Andrea Bonelli 


Andrea Bonelli is Restaurant Manager and Head Sommelier at Al Molo. He joined us in April

2015 and has worked in the restaurant industry since 1988.


Andrea grew up in Cerveteri, a seaside town in Italy next to Rome, in between the coast, lakes and the hills. For many years he worked in his family-run restaurant and like many top Italian managers started his passion for food, wine and organisation from home and developed it by working around the world.


In Italy, Andrea worked for three years in the best 5-star hotel in Rome ‘Parco dei Principi via Veneto’ as floor manager. Followed by one year in a three gold forks restaurant 'Da Vanni' as 'Assistant Restaurant Manager', a season as 'Wedding Food & Beverage Manager and 'Food & Beverage Manager during the launches of three hotels


Having learnt all he could from his time in Italy Andrea moved to London at the end of 2001. His career in London started at one of London’s best Italian restaurants ’Cecconi’ as a waiter and within six months he was promoted to ‘Head Waiter’ a mark of Andrea’s good leadership skills. During his time in London, he met a lot of “Managers & Directors": Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, Giacomo Maccioni, John Davies, Sebastian Fogg, Mitchell Everard. Along with top chefs: Andrea Garret, Stephen Terry, Mark Hix, Pasquale d’Amico, Francesco Mazzei and Sommeliers like Mark Perna, Chris Cooper, Andrew Connor plus many, many more. 


During this time Andrea continued his career development, achieving two Diploma, the first a ‘ Hotel & Manager’ Diploma and then the Italian Sommelier Association Diploma in 'Food & Wine Pairing, Wine Service and Wine Selection. After a couple of years spent in an exclusive wine bar in Covent Garden Andrea had the opportunity to come and work with us in Weymouth. Andrea had first meet Giuseppe Vannucci when they worked together at ‘Bacco'. ​​
